Azan subuh was at 5.45 am. I went to my local surau Pajar for Subuh prayers.
After prayers, I told Kamal that please announce to Surau people that my mother just passed away. Surau jamaah came to the house at 6.15 am.
Meanwhile, I had to do some preparation for my mother's burial. Firstly, I asked my brother & sister to call & inform everyone concerned of the passing of mother.
Datuk Abdul Rahman (Equinas CEO @ my cousin) volunteered to be my "driver". Not easy being driven by a CEO.
Second, I went to the Police station to "certify" that my mother has passed away.
Then off to Masjid Bulat. I knew the people there and they said "khariat kematian" for ahli Qariah is ready. Van jenazah, bilik urusan jenazah + all the necessary items & tukang mandi & membaca talkin is ready. I told him, I will take everything except tukang mandi. My own aunt will "mandi" my mother. That was mother's wish.
Lastly, off to Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetary (BKMC) for burial arrangements. Firstly, they did NOT allow my mother to be buried at Kiara as my mother's address is in Selangor. But, imam at one of the KL mosque did contact BKMC and they agreed to give permit to my mother. RM 300.00 was the fee (+ money to penggali2 kubur)
I came back to house at 8am. People were arriving from all over the place. My office-mates started coming. I was touched. I cannot mention everyone that came. They were plenty. I told the audience that the plan is:-
1. From morning until 11.15 am the jenazah is at home
2. After 11.15 am, the jenazah is being "mandi & kafan" at the masjid Bulat
3. After Zuhor prayers will be Solat Jenazah
4. After Solat Jenazah, the burial will be at Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetary until 3.30pm
Datuk Rahman asked me to lead majlis tahlil at 9am, which I obliged. Peple never stopped coming (& going)
Exactly 11.15am, we carried the jenazah to Masjid. I told my 2 sisters, my eldest daughter and my wife to be with my aunt in the bilik jenazah. All of them must take part in the "mandi & kafan"
By 12.30pm, the jenazah is ready. We last saw my mother, before she was covered completley at 12.30 pm. Everybody kissed her for the last time.
1.20pm Zuhor and immediately after Zuhor, solat Jenazah. I lead the Solat Jenazah.... Alhamdulillah there were many people doing the solat jenazah. Many office-mates were there.
1.50pm me & brother went in the Jenazah van to BKMC. Me & brother received mother at the liang lahad before we started to bury her. Talkin was done by Ustaz Salleh. I cannot control my crying..
By 3.15pm, we poured water & flower at the kubur...
I have done my best. Mandi, kafan, solat & kebumi my mother. Now starts the constant doa for my mother.
Before going back home, I dropped by at a dear friend of mine's grave (arwah Zul). It is very near mother's grave.
Bonda, kembalilah kepada Allah dengan hati yg tenang... Sehingga kita berjumpa di sana kelak.
To ALL my friends, thank you so much for everything. Please forgive my mother..

My mother passed away..
I am writing of the last moments of my mother's life.
Me and family knew that my mother is dying. We are all aware of her deteriorating health.
I,as the eldest son, must show my strenght so that the family members are being guided to give the best for mother.
In term of spiritual, my mother can recite "La ila ha illallah, Muhammad rasulullah" in early Jun. By 3rd week of Jun, she could only say "La ila ha illallah". By end Jun it became "Allah" and then by 4th Jul, she died.
Early Jun, she could stand by her own. By 3rd week of Jun, she just lie down. But end Jun, she could barely speak and slipped in semi-coma.
We could feel that she is nearing her time, and we could not do anything.. We just leave it to Allah.
On Sunday 3 Jul, I went to Puchong, to fetch 14 Tahfiz students to my house. Each of them recited 2 Juzu' each, with me having to cover 2 Juzu' to complete 30 Quran Juzu'. They gave me Juzu' 14 & 15. Praise be to Allah... Alhamdulillah, we covered the whole Quran.
In the evening, she became so weak, she could barely opened her eyes. I just whisper "Allah" to her...
After Isya', mother's breathing became irregular. I can sense that she is struggling to breath. Zaidah (youngest sister) recited the whole Al-Baqarah to her. She just lied down sleeping. I took a rest, watching Wimbledon Final between Djokovic and Nadal.
Everyday me, Zaidah & Faisal (my brother) took turns to be by her bedside. Zaidah took the 1st shift from Isya' until 1am. Faisal took from 1.00am until 4.30am. This is because he usually sleeps at around 4am everyday, so taking the mid-night shift is like second nature to him.
I took the last lap, from 4.30 am until 8.00am when the nurse and Zaidah will start to clean her up.
That nite, Zaidah was so tired that she slept at 11pm. I was beside my mother from 11pm until 2.30am. Faisal came back home to take over from 2.30am until 6am.
In my last "shift", I recited Surah Hud to her. This Surah mentioned a lot about Prophets. So, I took time to compile many stories regarding Prophets from Adam until Isa. Allah mentioned that All Prophets were being challenged by Allah. They have to bring people to worship Allah. But the end result, it is Allah who determines the outcome. Surely, it applies to us too. We make effort to the best of our ability. But the outcome, we leave it to ALLAH. Allah knows best.
At 5am, Faisal woke me up, saying mak was not breathing anymore. I shooked her for response- No response. I checked her breathing- no breathing. I checked her pulse- no pulse. Her body was still hot, so she must have passed away very recently.
I began to wake everyone in the house. I also asked to wake up my aunt's family, who happens to live next door. They all started crying!
A few minutes later Aunty came, panicked & said that we have to call a certified doctor to "certify" that mother is dead. I knew that if the above 3 things happened, the person is already dead from my First Aid Course. We cannot even give her CPR.
But, I just politely asked my brother Faisal to go to the nearest 24hour clinic, to get the doctor to "certify". Doctor came and examined my mother at 5.30am. She wrote on her paper, that my mother has passed away at 5.30 am.
I waited for Subuh. I managed to do 2 rakaat Tahajjud & 1 rakaat witir. I cried..

Always2 remember ALLAH- never forget that!
Me & family take turns caring for mother.
She is not in any pain, but it is our duty to ensure that she is as comfortable as ever. All of us are being briefed on what to expect from mother's worsening situation by the palliative care unit. We are all in a journey of our lives.
The most important thing for us is not to panic. Just show your calmness and composure and always make her feel good.
If we show our sadness to her, she will feel the sadness and this can affect her courage.
On the spiritual side, never ever let her forget the word "ALLAH". Allah the Almighty, the God that we pray and remember, must always be on her mind. We strive to ensure that she always remember ALLAH.
I embarked on a project called Khatam Quran. Since she is now at home, I ensure that when it is my turn to be with her, I must recite the Quran. On the day 16th Jun until now, I have covered half the Quran. I must ensure that I khatam (finish) the Quran before the start of Ramadan.
Mind you, reading Quran does not mean reading it in Arabic. I also read the translation to my mother. By this way, it will not benefit my mother alone, but it also benefits me.
May Allah give me strenght to go through this. Praise only to Allah the only God!!

Caring for mother at home
On 16 Jun 2011, begins a new chapter for me and my family.
University hospital discharged my mother and now starts me and my family to take care of her at home.
We bought a bed together with a bubble mattress to prevent bed sore.
Me, brother and 2 sisters made some schedule to take turns (shift) to take care of her.
We also got the hospital to advice us on paliative care (care of a dying person).
We also have engaged a home nursing service in case we need one.
But the most important thing all of us need is the spiritual strenght to ride through this wonderful "journey".
A strong believe in Allah (the one and only GOd) is essential to give us the strenght. In Quran verse 6:2; "He (Allah) is Who created you from clay, then he gave you a term (life before you die), and only He know the term (your life span),
and still you doubt"
Every single living thing must die. Allah knows how, when & where each one of us will die. We must face it wheather we like it or not. We must realise that death is another chapter in our life where we will leave this world and enter a new world.
On 21 Jun 2011 (Solstis day), where on that day is the longest daylight for North Hemisphere and longest night in the Southern part of the world, my mother was in real pain. All of us did not know what to do. She hardly slept, and every 10 minutes starts to moan & groan. It started at midnight and lasted until 8pm that day, until she finally got to sleep.
The next day, we consulted the Paliative Care doctor & she explained in detail on how to face that kind of situation. We also checked the spiritual side on how to calm mother when faced in this situation.
After that challenging day, the coming days became easier as we followed instructions and took care of her. We exactly know what to do and we are calm in the stuation.
Yes, me & family face great challenge in caring for a bed ridden mother. But, we are most greatful to Allah, to give us the opportunity to be close to mother
and take care of her. It has been very satisfying experience indeed.
Make dua for my mother.. May Allah make her easy..
ps. This posting is specially for Sarah Neff (my foster sister in Switzerland) and sincerely hope she reads it...

Kesibukan & ujian Allah padaku
The last 2 weeks (16-29 May 2011) has really been a very hectic schedule for me.
I am really busy with meetings on a back-to-back timing.
2 of my staff (one meternity), another on long medical leave making the unit a bit stretched. I thank the rest of the team for holding the fort.
I did tell them that we all need to be mentally and spiritually strong especially facing the "sergeant". We must also be ready to answer his questions.
But, if he is really in a bad mood, then just keep quiet, no point arguing with a person on fire..
But with laptop (technology) and sheer determination, I found myself to be facing this problems with little trouble..
On 21 May, my mother was diagnose with cancer and was confirmed terminally ill. That really shocked me!
But after looking at the bigger picture, inilah kepercayaan kita kepada Qada' & Qadar Allah. Teruskan berusaha & selebihnya kita berserah kepada Allah yg Maha Besar.
I have come to terms with my mother's condition. Me, my brother & sisters as well as wife & daughters will make the most of whatever time left with her.
We will cherish these moments and we want to make her as comfortable & happy as possible.
Kepada Allah kita pasti kembali & doa kita agar dikembalikan dalam keadaan yg baik. Amin...

MU won 19th League title
I am writing about MU season for 2010/11.
This season MU won the English Premier League for a record 19th time, surpassing Liverpool for the 1st time ever. That, to me is a very proud achievement indeed.
Arsenal came third with 13 titles.Everton 9, Aston Villa 7 and Sunderland 6. Liverpool last won it in 1990, Arsenal in 2004, Everton 1987, Aston Villa 1981 and Sunderland 1936.
Other previous winners are 4 titles for Chelsea, Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United.
3 titles won by Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, Wolverhamton Wanderers and Huddesfield Town.
2 titles won by Derby County, Man City, Spurs, Burnley, Portsmouth and Preston NE.
1 each for Forest, Ipswich Town, WBA and Sheffield United.
There are only 23 teams that have won it and the latest team to have won is Nottingham Forest in 1978 under the late Brian Clough.
So tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson for his phenomenal achievement in winning the Premiership, an achievement that will most likely stand the test of time.
Man City won the FA Cup, making a double achievement for the City of Manchester. Man City also qualified for the Champions League slot. They are a succesful team this season.
The League Cup was won by Birmingham City, but they were also relegated. I do not consider Brum as successful this season.
MU also qualified for the Champions League Final, losing to Barca 3-1. Well, Barca is a great team and having reached the Finals is very good for MU this season.
Nani impressed me the most this season. Hernandez is a suprise. But the really hero for Man U is... Nemanja Vidic (the captain). He is really the strenght to MU this season.
So, looking forward to next August and I am really2 happy for MU this season.

MU on the way to winning 19th League title
I watched the match they called "Super Sunday" between MU and Chelsea on Astro last night. What a match it was!
MU is on the way to break Liverpool's record of winning 18 League title. The last time Liverpool won the League title was in 1990. At that time MU won only 7 League titles and it will take maybe 100 years to break Liverpool's impressive record.
But 21 years down the road, Sir Alex Furgeson has really achieved something that even Bob Paisley did not achieve in Liverpool. MU won 11 League titles from 1993 until 2009. Only Blackburn, Arsenal and Chelsea broke the sequence. If not, MU would have won it every year!!
There is another 2 more games left, with ONE point to be collected to be crowned as the RECORD 19th League Champions
